When creating designs for your products with Subliminator, one key factor to keep in mind is DPI (dots per inch). DPI directly impacts the resolution and quality of the final product, so it's important to ensure you're using the correct DPI for each design. But what exactly is the right DPI for your Subliminator products? Let's break it down.
Why 150 DPI is Often Enough
For the majority of Subliminator products, 150 dpi is the recommended resolution. This is because Subliminator uses dye sublimation printing, a process where the design is transferred onto the material using heat. Dye sublimation printing typically produces high-quality results even at 150 dpi, and there is no noticeable visual difference between a file at 150 dpi and one at 300 dpi.
This makes 150 dpi sufficient for most of the products you’ll be designing for. Using this resolution ensures your designs are sharp and clear while also maintaining efficiency during the design and printing process.
When 300 DPI Is Required
However, there are some products that require 300 dpi, and this is due to the UV printing technique used for these specific items. UV printing is a different process that allows for much finer detail and higher-quality results, so to take full advantage of this, it’s recommended to upload your designs at a higher resolution.
Currently, the product that requires 300 dpi is the 20oz Tumbler - AOP (All-Over Print). Since UV printing is used for these tumblers, the finer details benefit from the higher resolution, making it necessary to upload at 300 dpi for the best possible result.
The Subliminator Generator and DPI Settings
Please note: Our generator is set to 150 dpi (and 300 dpi for the 20oz tumbler). As not everybody is an expert at uploading images in the correct resolution, so this way we're able to maintain the correct standard.
By default, the system will help maintain the optimal quality for your designs based on the product you’re working with.
The Importance of Design Size and Image Dimensions
In addition to DPI, it's essential to work with the correct image dimensions. When creating designs for your Subliminator products, always use the same size and image dimensions as specified in the provided design templates. This ensures that your design files are sized properly and will display correctly on the final product.
By following these guidelines, you’ll ensure that your designs are not only high-quality but also meet the technical requirements for the best printing results.
