How to group layers in the 3D Creator

Group layers to move, resize and recolor several elements as one object, and manage layers in the Layers panel.

Group layers to move, resize and recolor several elements as one object. A group keeps every layer editable, and you can ungroup at any time.

How do I group layers?

  1. Select two or more layers. ⌘-click (Mac) or Ctrl-click (Windows) them on the canvas or in the Layers panel.

  2. Press Ctrl + G (Windows) or ⌘ + G (Mac), or right-click the selection and choose Group.

  3. The layers now share one bounding box and show as one group in the Layers panel.

The Background layer can't be grouped.

How do I ungroup?

  1. Select the group on its own.

  2. Press Shift + Ctrl + G (Windows) or Shift + ⌘ + G (Mac), or right-click and choose Ungroup.

The layers go back to where they were. Effects and the pattern frame set on the group are removed. Press Ctrl/⌘ + Z to undo.

How do I edit one layer inside a group?

  • Double-click the group on the canvas, then click the layer you want. You get that layer's full settings.

  • Or open the group in the Layers panel with the arrow and select the layer there.

  • Click outside the group to leave it.

How do I manage layers in the Layers panel?

  • Rename: double-click the layer name.

  • Reorder: drag a layer up or down.

  • Move into or out of a group: drag the layer onto the group, or out of it.

  • Hide or lock: use the eye and lock icons next to the layer.

What can I change on a whole group?

  • Position, Rotation, Opacity, Mirror: apply to the group as one object.

  • Scale: resizes everything evenly.

  • W / H with the ratio lock off: stretches the group. Rotated layers inside may skew, and stroke width stays the same.

  • Colors: shows every color in the group. Click a swatch to replace that color in all layers.

  • Pattern (tiling): the group repeats as one tile. Use Edit mask area to change the frame.

Shadow and stroke on a group follow its outer outline. Fill and corner radius are set per layer, not on the group. Shadow, stroke and corner radius keep their size when you resize.

Group or multi-select: which one?

  • Group resizes as one object and repeats as one pattern tile.

  • Multi-select (not grouped) changes each layer on its own: W = 500 makes every selected layer 500 px wide, and each layer gets its own pattern. Fields with different values show Mixed.

To resize several layers as one object, group them first.

⚠️ Group missing in the 3D view? Move the group slightly or switch to another product area and back to refresh the preview.
